What we collect and why

Information you give us directly:

Your name, email address, and timezone when you create an account. The text, voice recordings, and conversation transcripts you choose to capture. Facts, action items, and notes you confirm and save within the app.

Information we generate on your behalf:

AI-extracted people, facts, action items, and projects from your captures. A morning brief generated daily from your saved data. Smart nudges based on patterns in your captures and contacts.

Information we collect automatically:

Basic usage data (which features you use, error logs) to improve the product. We do not use cookies for advertising. We do not build advertising profiles.

How we use your data

We use your data for one purpose: to provide you with the Memmoth service. Specifically:

  • To transcribe your voice recordings (processed by AssemblyAI)
  • To extract structured information from your captures (processed by Anthropic's Claude AI)
  • To generate your morning brief and smart nudges
  • To send you transactional emails (via Resend)

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties for advertising, marketing, or profiling purposes. We do not use your data to train AI models without your explicit consent.

Third-party processors

To provide Memmoth, we use the following third-party services as data processors:

  • Supabase (database and file storage) — supabase.com/privacy
  • Anthropic (AI extraction via Claude API) — anthropic.com/privacy
  • AssemblyAI (voice transcription) — assemblyai.com/privacy
  • Resend (transactional email) — resend.com/privacy

Each of these processors is contractually bound to process your data only as directed by us and in accordance with their own privacy policies.

Voice recordings

Voice recordings are uploaded temporarily to secure storage solely for the purpose of transcription. Once transcription is complete, the original audio file is automatically and permanently deleted. We do not retain audio recordings. Only the text transcript is stored.

Information about third parties in your captures

When you capture conversations, you may include information about other people (colleagues, friends, family). We store this information solely to provide you with your personal memory service. We do not contact these individuals, share their information, or use it for any purpose other than powering your experience.

You are responsible for ensuring your use of Memmoth complies with applicable laws regarding the collection of information about others, including recording consent laws in your jurisdiction.

You have the right to:

  • Access all data we hold about you (Settings → Your data → Export my data)
  • Delete all your data permanently (Settings → Your data → Delete my account)
  • Correct inaccurate information (editable throughout the app)
  • Request a copy of your data in portable format (JSON export)
  • Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account

For EU/UK users: you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to object to processing and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all your data is permanently deleted within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain records (such as billing records and consent logs, which are retained for 7 years).

Security

We use industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest
  • Row-level security ensuring users can only access their own data
  • No plaintext storage of sensitive information
